Featured story: Fullerton College: Dean bob jensen and Dr. sean chamberlin

May 12, 2009

Fullerton College in Southern California is on the forefront of Student Generated Content, incorporating it in a number of disciplines ranging from Art and Theater to Marine Biology.

In this interview, Bob Jensen (Dean of Fine Arts) explains why the global reach of the Internet magnifies the benefits of involving students in the teaching process. "There's great exposure to the institution, great exposure for the student, and I think the teacher feels like it's not just another project, it's actually a better alternative."

Professor Sean Chamberlin further explains how encouraging students to share their knowledge in their own words, and with the benefit of their own culture, can be a rewarding experience not only for other students, but for their teachers as well. "It's in their own language ... the way they're explaining it is the way that they would explain it to a friend or a family member, and it makes sense."
